LOUISIANA FUR AND ALLIGATOR ADVISORY COUNCIL (FAAC)

The Louisiana Fur and Alligator Advisory Council is dedicated to wildlife conservation through wise utilization. The Advisory Council's major goals are: (1) stabilization and enhancement of Louisiana's fur and alligator markets, in order to maintain a strong economic incentive for protecting coastal wetlands; and (2) education of the public concerning the role of trapping in wildlife conservation.

FUR INSTITUTE OF CANADA (FIC)

The Fur Institute of Canada includes membership from all sectors of the fur trade, native groups, various government departments, conservation and animal-welfare organizations. The Institute administers the current multimillion dollar trap research and development program, as well as assisting in the coordination of trapper-training programs. The Institute also provides information about the fur trade, trap research and conservation to the public, in Canada and abroad.

INTERNATIONAL FUR TRADE FEDERATION (IFTF)

The International Fur Trade Federation is the "United Nations" of the fur trade, with member associations from thirty countries - virtually every nation where furs are produced or traded. (The most recent member to join is The People's Republic of China.)

The Federation administers the distribution of funds collected by a levy applied to all furs sold at public auctions around the world. Considerable funding has been provided to trap research, IUCN wildlife surveys, and for advanced research aimed at further improving the housing and care of farmed furbearing animals.
