Trappers
Coronate Miss Rodeo Montana
I
just love fur!" an excited Christina Boldt of
Missoula shouted through tears of joy after being
coronated as the 1997 PRCA Miss Rodeo Montana.
Members of the Montana
Trappers Association were on hand in Great Falls on
January 12 for the exhilarating conclusion and grand
finale of this four day event. Miss Rodeo Montana
was not only assisted in the coronation by President
Ed Hebbe III and Secretary Ed Hebbe IV, but on
behalf of the entire trappers association, they
presented this young lady
with a leather trimmed
northern supreme red fox fur jacket.
During the
weekend event, nine contestants from all parts of
Montana competed for this prestigious event. The
pageant has evolved into a rigorous competition and
involves public speaking, modeling, knowledge of
rodeo, and horsemanship.
As the
newly reigning Miss Rodeo Montana, Christina will
take on duties as ambassador of Montana Professional
Rodeo. She will attend the beginning at the Montana
Professional Rodeo Finals held in Great Falls in
January. Here she begins her duties as a
spokesperson while attending promotional activities,
modeling in a "Made in Montana" Fashion Show,
hosting a children's stick horse rodeo and then
assisting in almost every facet of the rodeo itself.
From here she travels around the state and nation
educating, promoting and living the professional
sport of rodeo and the western way of life.
To become Miss Rodeo Montana it
takes a young lady with high moral and ethical
character, who always portrays good sportsmanship
and careful, humane treatment of animals. She must
understand rodeo in its entirety and be able to
explain it in detail to anyone she meets. She must
be willing to give assistance wherever she is needed
by contractors, participants and most especially
fans.
Christina stated she was
extremely happy she was chosen to represent rodeo
and the trappers in Montana. "I love fur and I
really wanted to win this jacket as I had my eyes
set on it," she said.
