After receiving guidance and direction from the MTA
Board of Directors at the October 2002 Board
meeting, Jim Buell filed Articles of Incorporation
with the Montana Secretary of State. As of Oct 23,
2002 the Youth Trapper Camp was incorporated as a
Domestic Nonprofit Corporation under the laws of the
State of Montana. Due to paperwork being filed with
the Montana Department of Revenue, YTC, Inc has been
determined to be a non-profit tax exempt corporation
under Montana Code Annotated (MCA) 15-31-102(1)(d).
Also, paperwork has been filed with the Federal
Internal Revenue Service and we are awaiting a
decision from the IRS to determine if YTC, Inc can
operate as a 501 (c) 3 educational non-profit
organization. If the determination is made that YTC,
Inc is a 501 (c) 3 organization, then any and all
contributions made to YTC, Inc will be a straight
tax deduction.
The MTA Board of Directors appointed Bob Sheppard,
John Hughes, Charlie Shanefelter, Fran Buell and Jim
Buell to be the first directors of YTC, Inc.
Proposed Bylaws have been written for YTC, Inc;
these will be reviewed, amended, added to and
approved at the first organizational meeting of YTC,
Inc. Which will most probably be held Thursday, June
5, 2003 at the YTC site. At that time additional
directors can be approved by the sitting directors,
officers will be elected and the first charter
members will be enrolled. Anyone wishing to attend
this meeting is welcome.
The number of those wishing applications for YTC
2003 has now reached 87, this does not include the
instructors or support personnel. As YTC 2003 is
advertised through the MTA, MT FWP and MT 4-H, it
appears that YTC 2003 will be a full house once
again.
